BYU Football Lands Pitt QB Kedon Slovis From Transfer Portal

PROVO, Utah – Former USC and Pitt QB Kedon Slovis will continue his football career at BYU.
After Jaren Hall announced that he is moving on to pursue a career in the NFL, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Slovis made his commitment to BYU official.
Slovis will enroll on January 9 for BYU’s winter semester and will compete in spring practices.

“We are pleased to announce Kedon Slovis will be joining our football program,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. “He’s an extremely talented quarterback with a wealth of experience as a successful starter at the Power 5 level. We are excited that Kedon has chosen to conclude his college career at BYU.”
Kedon Slovis lands at BYU after one season at Pitt
He comes to BYU after three seasons at USC from 2019 to 2021. Then this past year, he was the starting quarterback for the Pitt Panthers.
During his four years of college football, Slovis has started in 37 games at quarterback.
When he entered the Transfer Portal for the second time in his college career, schools like UCLA, Notre Dame, and Oregon State contacted the four-year starting quarterback. Slovis took an official visit to BYU and came away impressed with Provo.

He steps into a BYU program with a significant void at quarterback, with Jaren Hall announcing he is moving on to the NFL. Slovis joins a quarterback room that includes New Mexico Bowl Offensive MVP Sol-Jay Maiava-Peters, former Boise State transfer Cade Fennegan, walk-on Nick Billoups, and true freshman Ryder Burton.
This past season at Pitt, Slovis passed for 2,397 yards and 10 touchdowns but had nine interceptions. In addition, he completed 58.4% of his 315 pass attempts.
Slovis is close to 10,000 career passing yards in his college football career
Slovis is only 27 yards away from reaching 10,000 passing yards in his college career.
A sliver of those yards came against BYU in Slovis’ second career start. Back in 2019, Slovis saw Provo firsthand as a member of the USC Trojans. Slovis passed for 281 yards in that 2019 matchup that saw Zach Wilson and BYU pull off the overtime upset against the nationally-ranked Trojans.
After that matchup, Slovis praised the kindness of BYU fans in a podcast interview.
Slovis is a high-profile quarterback with representation through the Klutch Sports Group. The same Klutch Group that represents NBA superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
QB1 in year one of the Big 12?
BYU opens the 2023 season against Sam Houston State on September 2 in Provo. Then hosts Southern Utah the following week. After that, Slovis will look to lead BYU through 10 consecutive weeks against Power Five opponents. Beginning with Arkansas in SEC Country on September 16, followed by nine games against Big 12.
