Keyonte George Hits Rising Stars Championship Game-Winner

SALT LAKE CITY – Keyonte George hit the game-winning three to send Team C through the Rising Stars Challenge to the All-Star Tournament on Sunday night.
George totaled 13 points in two games to help lead Chris Mullin’s roster to the Rising Stars title.

Keyonte George Leads Team C In Game One
George got off to a quick start in the Rising Stars Challenge leading Team C to a 40-34 victory.
The Jazz guard missed his first three-point attempt of the game but caught fire knocking down his next three shots including two deep balls.

Behind George’s hot shooting, Team C jumped out to a 10-2 lead and never looked back.
The sophomore added two free throws late in the game, finishing with a team-high 10 points and one assist on 3-5 shooting including 2-4 from the three-point line.
George Hit Game-Winner In Game Two
Though George didn’t have the same scoring in game two against the G League All-Stars, he saved his best for last.
The Jazz guard was just 1-3 from the field, but his lone basket was the game-winner sending Team C to a 25-14 win.
Keyonte George hits the game-winning three to send Team C through to Sunday’s All-Star Tournament.
That was George’s only made basket in the Rising Stars title game.
He finishes with 3 points, two rebounds, two assists and a steal.

George finished with three points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal to help lead Team C.
“We came out here and respected the game, came out here and played, and now we get a chance to play with the big dogs,” George said of the opportunity.
Team C will face Team Shaq, led by LeBron James and Steph Curry on Sunday night.
Rising Stars Format
Four teams competed in a three-game tournament on Friday night, with the winner earning a spot in the four-team All-Star tournament on Sunday, February 16.
The All-Star tournament will resemble Friday’s contests with the first team to score 40 points advancing to a winner-take-all final.

“Being able to play against the All-Stars on Sunday, it’s a little bit more motivation this year,” George admitted.
Each player on Sunday’s championship team will earn $125,000 while the runners-up will earn $50,000.
Players on the teams that are eliminated in the opening round of the All-Star tournament will each earn $25,000.
