SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz will host the Detroit Pistons on Monday night in the final contest of a nine-game homestand.

The Jazz are coming off of a narrow loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night in which the team blew a six-point lead late in the fourth quarter before falling 128-121.

Extended Homestand Didn’t Alter Jazz’s Lottery Odds

The Jazz began their homestand on February 12 with the third-worst record in the NBA, sitting a half-game up on the Pelicans who owned the worst record in the Western Conference, and 1.5 games behind the Charlotte who were second-worst in the East.

After Sunday’s loss, the Jazz are now 1.5 games back of New Orleans, but a half-game ahead of the Hornets who own the second-worst record in the NBA.

Though the Pelicans and Hornets have switched places, the Jazz still own the third-worst record in the NBA.

If these standings held through the remainder of the regular season, the Jazz would have a 14.0 chance of landing the top overall pick in the draft lottery, a 13.4 percent chance of drafting second, a 12.7 percent chance of drafting third, and a 12.0 percent chance of drafting fourth.

After facing the Pistons, the Jazz will embark on a five-game road trip with stops in Washington, Toronto, Philadephia, Boston, and Memphis.

Detroit comes to Utah as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, having won nine of their last 10 games, including a 115-94 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.
