DENVER – Fans wanting to see BYU basketball in the NCAA Tournament can get a free glimpse on Wednesday.

No. 6 seed BYU will have an open practice for fans and the media on Wednesday, March 19, at the Ball Arena in downtown Denver.

BYU basketball open practice at the “Big Dance”

BYU will practice at the home of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. (MDT). The open practice will run until 1:55 p.m.

Each of the eight teams playing in Denver this weekend will have an open practice on Wednesday. The first practice will be No. 14 seed Montana from the Big Sky Conference at 11 a.m.

The doors at Ball Arena open for fans at 10 a.m.

BYU’s first-round opponent, VCU, will practice before the Cougars from 12:30 p.m. until 1:10 p.m.

This is BYU’s second consecutive year reaching the NCAA Tournament, and it’s its third straight appearance as a No. 6 seed.

BYU is a slight favorite over the No. 11 seed VCU Rams.

The Cougars are looking for their first NCAA Tournament victory in the Round of 64 in 14 years. They have lost four consecutive games in the “Big Dance.”

Coincidentally, BYU’s last NCAA Tournament win in the Round of 64 occurred in Denver.

BYU players and coaches were excited to land in Denver to start a potential NCAA run.

“We obviously wanted Denver, just because it’s a little closer to home,” said BYU guard Trevin Knell. “We felt like the elevation is kind of on our side a little bit. And we really want Cougar fans to enjoy this time. We think, with Denver being pretty close, that we’re going to have a really good show with the crowd.”

BYU’s game against VCU takes place on Thursday on TNT and KSL NewsRadio.
