Utah Football Doubles Its Lead With Smith Snowden Jet Sweep Touchdown

PASADENA, Calif. – Utah football two-way player Smith Snowden scored his first-ever offensive touchdown in the first quarter of the season opener against the UCLA Bruins.
Snowden took a jet sweep handoff and, after a change of direction, powered in the Utes’ second touchdown of the game.

Snowden, a junior defensive back, spent both of his first two college seasons strictly on defense and special teams.
Early in the offseason, he teased that he might get offensive snaps in 2025. Early after kickoff in game one, there proved to be fire underneath the smoke.
In fact, the first play of the Utes’ season was an 11-yard completion from Devon Dampier to Snowden.
Over the first two drives, Snowden nabbed three receptions for 26 yards and added two rushes for 12 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Utah carried its 13-0 lead into the second quarter.

Utah Football Looks To Start Strong Against UCLA
Utah football opens its 2025 season in the Rose Bowl against the Big Ten’s UCLA Bruins today.
With a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, and several key returners on the offensive line and defense, the Utes aim to bounce back from a disappointing inaugural Big 12 season.
Their first opponent: former Pac-12 rival UCLA. This will be the first non-conference meeting between these schools since 2007. The Utes are 6-1 in their last 7 meetings with the Bruins. This includes three wins in their last four trips to the Rose Bowl.
