SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 17 Morgan Trojans prevailed over the Provo Bulldogs in a tight-knit overtime affair on Thursday in week five of 4A high school football.

Provo took off with 17 points in the second quarter and led 24-7 at halftime. Morgan responded with 14 in the third and a field goal in the fourth to force OT.

In the extra period, quarterback Owen Gilson found Kanyon Leonelli for the game-winning touchdown. Gilson finished with two passing touchdowns and a third on the ground in the 30-24 win.

Region 8

No. 21 Salem Hills Skyhawks 23 @ Timpanogos Timberwolves 20

The Salem Hills Skyhawks outlasted the Timpanogos Timberwolves in overtime to improve to 4-1 in week five. Regulation ended with the score tied at 17-17. After a Timpanogos field goal in OT, Salem Hills’ Benjamin Staheli ran in a touchdown from 11 yards to win the game.

Region 9

No. 14 Crimson Cliffs Mustangs 21 @ Hurricane Tigers 16

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs fought off a late push from the Hurricane Tigers to improve to 4-1 with a win on Friday. Leading 14-3 heading into the fourth, Hurricane would score 13 points in the final quarter. Quarterback Tanoai Andersen found Jaxson Holt for his second touchdown of the game to put the score just out of reach.

Dixie Flyers 14 @ No. 19 Pine View Panthers 42

The Pine View Panthers scored 28 unanswered points in the second half of their win over the Dixie Flyers in week five. Quarterback Levi Shaw had five passing touchdowns, and all of them went to Brock Harris. Harris scored the last three TDs of the game, elevating the Panthers to a win.

Snow Canyon Warriors 27 @ Desert Hills Thunder 15

The Snow Canyon Warriors went up 10-0 in the first half, and that buffer allowed them to stay on top and pick up a win over the Desert Hills Thunder on Friday. The difference was special teams and defense. 15 of the team’s points came from Ammon Allred’s leg and a Trey Vaughn pick-six.

Region 10

East Leopards 8 @ Highland Rams 17

The Highland Rams scored a touchdown in each of the first two quarters and held onto their lead to defeat the East Leopards in week five. Quarterback Brody Dalton found Zamiri Vaughn and Manase Wolfgramm for the Rams’ two TDs. East’s Joseph Cooley got the Leopards on the board with a rushing score in the final minute of the game.

Cottonwood Colts 6 @ Murray Spartans 56

The Murray Spartans scored all 56 of their points in the first half of their win over the Cottonwood Colts on Friday. Both McKade Eardley and Carson Davis had two touchdowns in the win. The Spartans improved to 4-1 with the victory.

Jordan Beetdiggers 31 @ Juan Diego Soaring Eagle 27

The Jordan Beetdiggers outscored the Juan Diego Soaring Eagle 15-6 in the fourth quarter, allowing them to come out on top for their first win of the season. All of the Beetdiggers’ touchdowns came on the ground. Dylan Suthar had two rushing scores, and both Malcolm Jensen and Brodie Sargent added one more.

Region 11

Bear River Bears 14 @ Stansbury Stallions 56

The Stansbury Stallions scored two or more touchdowns in three quarters of their win over the Bear River Bears in week five. Stansbury had eight total touchdowns, four on the ground and four through the air. Each TD came from a different player.

Sky View Bobcats 10 @ No. 18 Mountain Crest Mustangs 7

The Sky View Bobcats shocked the Mountain Crest Mustangs with a fourth-quarter game-winning field goal in week five. Sky View’s Lincoln Ballard made it 7-0 in the second quarter. Mountain Crest responded with a Mikah Clements TD in the third. Jace Carlson was the hero, drilling the field goal from 45 yards out with 10 seconds left.

Deseret Peak Golden Eagles 0 @ Green Canyon Wolves 73

The Green Canyon Wolves dropped 30 or more points in each of the first two quarters of their shutout win over the Deseret Peak Golden Eagles on Friday. Quarterback Bransen Munk threw five passing touchdowns and ran in a sixth from eight yards out. Braxton Atkinson scored two touchdowns, one on a goalline rush and the other on a scoop-and-score fumble recovery.

No. 4 Ridgeline Riverhawks 71 @ Tooele Buffaloes 0

The Ridgeline Riverhawks scored an eye-popping 50 points in the first half of their shutout win over the Tooele Buffaloes on Friday. Three Riverhawks running backs had two rushing touchdowns: Hudson Parry, Noah Fiefia, and Crosby West. Quarterback Nate Dahle added three touchdowns through the air.

Non-Region

Skyline Eagles 39 @ Uintah Utes 0

The Skyline Eagles scored 21 points in the second quarter and 15 in the third of their shutout victory over the Uintah Utes on Friday. Quarterback Xavier Cocci had four total touchdowns, two with his arm and two with his legs. Sione Tupua caught both of the passing TDs.

Mountain View Bruins 29 @ Layton Christian Academy Eagles (Independent) 44

The Layton Christian Academy Eagles’ offense was on a roll in their win over the Mountain View Bruins in week five. Layton Christian rushed for four touchdowns, quarterback Hayden Tuinei threw one more to make it five, and picked up a fumble and returned it 82 yards for six.
