SALT LAKE CITY – After opening conference play with a win over the Colorado Buffaloes, BYU football jumped up two spots in the week six edition of the AP Top 25 poll, which was released on Sunday.

The Cougars are one of four teams in the Big 12 that are still undefeated.

The path to win No. 4 was far from uncontested, though.

Colorado came out of the gates with eyes set on Alamo Bowl revenge. The first quarter closed with the Buffaloes leading 14-3. The Cougars slowly clawed back, scoring one touchdown in each quarter while only allowing Colorado back into the end zone one more time.

Quarterback Bear Bachmeier completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts for 179 yards and two touchdowns. He added 15 rushes for 98 yards on the ground.

Both of his passing TDs went to Chase Roberts. It was the first game in Roberts’ BYU career with multiple receiving touchdowns.

The Rest of The Big 12 Rankings

Like last week, there are four Big 12 schools that find themselves ranked in the top 25. Still, programs from the conference have yet to crack the top 10.

The closest is Texas Tech, which, despite enjoying a bye week, jumped up one spot to No. 11. Behind them at No. 15 is the Iowa State Cyclones, the only 5-0 team in the Big 12.

BYU and Arizona State come in at No. 23 and No. 25, respectively. Last week, TCU was in the rankings, but ASU defeated the Horned Frogs 27-24 in week five.

On the outside looking in, but still receiving votes, are Utah (52 votes, 27th overall) and TCU (six votes, 34th overall).
