Utah Athletics Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Class

SALT LAKE CITY – Some of Utah’s greatest athletes and one of its most impactful supporters will be forever enshrined this fall. The University of Utah Athletics Department revealed its 2025 Hall of Fame class, a group featuring six standout former student-athletes and one distinguished contributor.

The list includes C.J. Cron (Baseball), Georgia Dabritz (Gymnastics), Star Lotulelei (Football), Bernt Lund (Men’s Skiing), Ashley Mason (Women’s Soccer), Nate Orchard (Football), and Kem Gardner (Contributor).

This year’s class has the hardware to back up its selection: 32 first-team All-America honors, three NCAA team championships, two individual NCAA titles, eight conference team championships, six individual league titles, and three conference player of the year awards.

Gardner, meanwhile, joins elite company as just the 10th non-athlete contributor inducted into Utah’s Hall, and the first since 2015.

Athletic Director Mark Harlan summed it up this way:

“The rich history of Utah Athletics has been built by the accomplishments of countless individuals who have worn a Utah uniform or supported Utah Athletics in extraordinary ways. The Hall of Fame honors the very best of those, and we’re proud to welcome seven new members whose legacies will now be preserved in the Hall forever. We look forward to celebrating them this October.”

The official celebration will be tied to Utah’s football clash with defending Big 12 champion Arizona State on October 11. A formal induction dinner is set for Friday, October 10, inside Rice-Eccles Stadium & Tower, followed by an on-field recognition at halftime of Saturday’s game.

Meet the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025

C.J. Cron – Baseball (2009–11)

• Two-time first-team All-American (2010, 2011)

• Two-time Mountain West Player of the Year

• 2009 Freshman of the Year and part of Utah’s MWC Tournament title team

• Golden Spikes & Dick Howser semifinalist

• Drafted 17th overall in 2011 – highest pick in program history

• Enjoyed a long MLB career, highlighted by a 2022 All-Star nod

Georgia Dabritz – Gymnastics (2012–15)

• One of Utah’s all-time greats: 16-time All-American, tying the program record

• 2015 NCAA uneven bars champion, runner-up in 2013

• AAI Award winner (nation’s top senior gymnast)

• Academic All-American and Pac-12 Tom Hansen Medal recipient

• Helped Utah capture back-to-back Pac-12 titles (2014, 2015)

• First NCAA gymnast to score a perfect 10 on bars in both the semifinal and Super Six

• Ranks among Utah’s career leaders in event titles and 10.0 scores

Kem Gardner – Contributor

• Utah alumnus, philanthropist, and one of the school’s most influential benefactors

• Long-time donor to athletics, supporting scholarships and facilities

• Naming rights include the Legendary Coaches Wall at Rice-Eccles and Legacy Hall at the Huntsman Center

• Beyond athletics, Gardner’s impact spans campus: the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute and Carolyn and Kem Gardner Commons are cornerstones of the university

Star Lotulelei – Football (2010–12)

• 2012 consensus first-team All-American

• 2011 Morris Trophy winner (Pac-12’s top defensive lineman)

• Two-time first-team All-Pac-12

• First-round NFL Draft pick (14th overall in 2013)

• Played seven seasons as a full-time NFL starter for Carolina and Buffalo

Bernt Lund – Men’s Skiing (1981–84)

• 1981 NCAA Cross Country national champion

• Four-time All-American

• A cornerstone of Utah’s NCAA team titles in 1981, 1983, and 1984

Ashley Mason – Women’s Soccer (2003–06)

• Four-time NCAA tournament participant, including a 2006 second-round run

• First-team All-Region in 2006, second-team in 2003

• Utah’s career leader in goals allowed average and shutouts

• Key player on three MWC regular-season championships and two tournament titles

Nate Orchard – Football (2011–14)

• 2014 consensus All-American

• Winner of both the Ted Hendricks Award (nation’s top defensive end) and Morris Trophy

• Set Utah’s single-season sack record (18.5 in 2014) and finished tied for fifth all-time (25 career)

• Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by Cleveland; played seven NFL seasons

The Class of 2025 blends eras, sports, and legacies—from NCAA champions and professional standouts to a community leader whose generosity continues to shape campus life.

They’ll join Utah Athletics’ most elite company this October, adding another layer to the Utes’ proud tradition.
