Utah Kicker Releases Statement On Opening Prayer Warm Ups

SALT LAKE CITY – After some social media users pointed out that Utah kicker Dillon Curtis was warming up during the opening prayer of the BYU versus Utah game, he released a statement about the online discourse and situation.
“I’ve been debating for a few days whether I make a comment on me kicking during the prayer, and at first I decided to just let it blow over but I realized that isn’t the right thing to do. I just wanted to apologize to anyone I offended I really didn’t mean anything negative by it and especially didn’t have harsh intentions, I was just warming up when my cocahes told me to warm up,” the statement read.
Curtis went to Murray High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Brigham Young University (BYU) is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an opening prayer before every football game is a long-standing feature of game days at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
