Jordan Love Leads Packers To Big Sunday Night Win Over Steelers

PITTSBURGH — Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love played his best game of the season in week eight’s Sunday Night Football as the Green Bay Packers defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.

Love completed 29 of his 37 pass attempts fr 360 yards and three touchdowns. He finished with a 134.2 quarterback rating.

Jordan Love, Packers Make It Three Straight Wins

Both the Packers and Steelers had their fair share of offensive struggles in the game, but it was Green Bay who pulled it together when it mattered most.

After Pittsburgh got on the board first with a field goal, the Packers’ offense was quick to rebut.

It took just five plays and a little over three minutes before Love found Tucker Kraft for the game’s first touchdown.

The rest of the half was dominated by Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. They tacked on two more field goals and a late TD to go into the break leading 16-7.

With the odds stacked against them, Green Bay played excellently after halftime. Two-score deficit, tough road environment, and an even tougher defense. None of it mattered.

The first second-half Packers drive spanned 90 yards and ended in a Love to Savion Williams connection. It was the first NFL touchdown for Williams, a rookie out of TCU.

Green Bay would have four series in the fourth quarter. All of them ended in points.

The first ended in a Josh Jacobs touchdown to put the Packers up 22-19. After a quick Pittsburgh three-and-out, Love found Kraft again for his second score of the day.

Each of the next two possessions ended in Green Bay field goals.

The Steelers added a late touchdown, but the comeback fell short.

Green Bay improved to 4-1-1 with the 35-25 win.

About Jordan Love

Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.

In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.

Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first two seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.

In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.

In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Love was injured early in 2024, but came back and led the Packers to another Wild Card berth with 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Green Bay was knocked out in the first game of the postseason by the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles.
