Report: Utah Football QB Isaac Wilson Plans To Enter Transfer Portal

SALT LAKE CITY — According to reports, Utah football sophomore quarterback Isaac Wilson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos and Hayes Fawcett reported Wilson’s plans to explore interest in the portal on Monday.

In 2024, Wilson played in nine games for the Utes in the program’s inaugural season in the Big 12 conference.

Due to another injury-riddled season for senior QB Cam Rising, the younger brother of NFL quarterback Zach Wilson saw plenty of opportunity.

He completed 127 of 225 pass attempts for 1,510 yards and 10 touchdowns.

With Wilson as the main quarterback, Utah finished with a 5-7 record in 2024. Rising, Brandon Rose, and Luke Bottari also lined up under center for the Utes last season.

Although year one had its ups and downs, it appeared that Wilson had an unobstructed path for three more years of QB1 play in Salt Lake City.

Then, the program brought in Devon Dampier from New Mexico, who led the team to a 10-2 record in the regular season. Dampier, and backup freshman quarterback Byrd Ficklin, had the Utes in contention both in the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff through November.

Wilson took just 12 snaps in the 2025 season.

He also entered the transfer portal after last season, but chose to return and run it back with Utah football.
