BYU, Utah Move Up In Final AP Top 25 Of 2025 College Football Season

SALT LAKE CITY – The final AP Top 25 of the 2025 college football season is out.
Local programs BYU and Utah both moved up one spot each in the final poll.

BYU moved up from No. 12 to No. 11 after its Pop-Tarts Bowl victory over Georgia Tech.
Utah climbed from No. 15 to No. 14 after kicking off the Morgan Scalley era with a dominant win over Nebraska in the Las Vegas Bowl.
It’s the highest finish in the AP Top 25 for BYU football since 2020. For Utah, it’s the highest finish since the 2022 season when they ranked No. 10 in the country. The No. 11 final ranking is the fifth-highest finish in Utah’s history.
BYU’s No. 11 ranking is tied for the fourth-highest finish in program history. It’s the second time under head coach Kalani Sitake that BYU finished No. 11.
The 2025 ranking is the second consecutive year that BYU has finished in the final AP Top 25; last year, BYU was ranked No. 13 in the final poll.
Utah’s ranking in the final poll is the Utes’ first final ranking since 2022.
BYU finished the season with a 12-2 overall record, while the Utes were 11-2.
Out of the four combined losses between BYU and Utah, three of those setbacks were against Big 12 champion Texas Tech, which finished No. 7 in the final ranking.
The other loss was BYU’s 24-21 defeat of Utah on October 18 in Provo.
The Big 12 Conference finished with five teams ranked in the final poll. Houston checked in at No. 22, while TCU finished at No. 25. Both Texas-based schools had impressive bowl wins with Houston knocking off LSU in the Texas Bowl, and TCU taking down USC in the Alamo Bowl.
