SANDY — Real Salt Lake is back to MLS play, with eyes on Orlando for Saturday evening’s road tilt at Orlando City SC (5:30 p.m. MT, Apple TV) at Inter&Co Stadium.
But focus remains on the Leagues Cup, where just three days later Salt Lake will host Liga MX top-seeded Club Leon at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
RSL manager Pablo Mastroeni mentioned the club would likely rotate heavily against Orlando after dropping points for a sixth-straight match in MLS play Wednesday night against FC Dallas. But with a potential berth in CONCACAF Champions Cup on the line, the team appears to be going all-in on the Leagues Cup.
They want the crowd, too.
The club announced a “Denver takeover” on social media Friday, offering to buy tickets for any RSL fans that makes the trip to the Colorado Rapids’ home stadium for Tuesday night’s game.
“We really need you all there,” center back Lukas Engel said in a video produced by the team.
“If you get out there, tickets are on us,” he added.

Tickets will be distributed through Miller Sports + Entertainment, the local arm of the Larry H. Miller Company and Miller family that owns a majority stake in Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC and the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. The organization has set up a Typeform for each fan to register for a complimentary ticket to the quarterfinals, available here.
It also says tickets will be distributed to “verified RSL fans only.”
RSL continues MLS play Saturday in Orlando, but Mastroeni heavily hinted at significant squad rotation as the club prepares for a ninth match in a 12-game, 44-day sprint that included the first phase of Leagues Cup.
He also stressed the team’s need for “reinforcements” after the club-record sell of homegrown winger Zavier Gozo to Crystal Palace. In the most recent transfer window, RSL added Georgian international Saba Lobjanidze from Atlanta United and announced Friday a deal for Orlando City midfielder and U.S. youth international Colin Guske on loan from the Lions.
“Everybody knows,” Mastroeni said. “I mean, look; Kurt (Schmid, Real Salt Lake sporting director) is in Europe right now.
“Everyone knows the situation. It’s a tough one to be in. I think it’s an easy excuse to make,” he added. “While it’s dire, I believe that these moments are an opportunity. Is Saba that guy, and we have him in-house and we don’t know it? We want that next player to be a dangerous, attacking player. We need that position to be dangerous, and Saba brings us that.”
