BYU football expands LaVell Edwards Stadium offerings ahead of 2026

Aug 22, 2026, 2:54 PM

PROVO — Changes are coming to BYU football’s home field.

The Cougars announced Saturday the finishing touches on a handful of renovations at LaVell Edwards Stadium, including additional premium seating geared towards recruit visits and a long-awaited home locker room renovation.

Most of the changes have been finished in time for the 2026 season, which kicks off Sept. 5 against in-state FCS foe Utah Tech (6 p.m. MT, ESPN+). One change will also be coming in 2027.

New locker rooms at LaVell Edwards Stadium

The Cougars’ primary gameday locker room space received much-needed renovations that included new lockers, technology and player amenities.

BYU’s day-to-day locker room at the student-athlete building on campus was renovated in 2021 to feature a 75-yard long space patterned after the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first major renovation since the student-athlete building was built in 2004, and was funded by the SAB maintenance endowment fund established prior to the building’s construction.

The visiting locker room located under the west stands received a full renovation prior to the 2024 season.

But much of the home locker rooms had been outdated for years, a regular complaint by players and coaches who used the space on gameday for pregame and postgame planning, as well as making halftime adjustments.

PACS recruiting lounge coming to LES

Also underneath the east stands near the home locker rooms, BYU’s recruiting operations will house a newly constructed lounge area designed to service recruits and their families on gameday.

The lounge will include seating, food and drinks, and entertainment options available to recruits — with visible signage for longtime corporate sponsor PACS healthcare, whose logo currently adorns each sideline.

LaVell’s Lounge added to premium seating

New premium seating options are also coming to BYU, a hosting space on the upper concourse between the west and north stands called “LaVell’s Lounge” after late BYU legend and college football hall-of-famer LaVell Edwards.

The space, which is sponsored by longtime corporate sponsor Qualtrics, replaces the former Gridiron Grill West as a space to host guests of the BYU athletic department and corporate sponsors with expanded concessions, new seating, televisions and other amenities.

Future pavilion on northwest platform

BYU remove and rebuilt the infrastructure connecting the north and west stands during the offseason to build a deeper foundation capable of sustaining a two-story, premium club seating area in the future.

With the infrastructure in place, construction on the new PACS Pavilion will begin following the 2026 football season.

The Cougars’ also hung a banner commemorating the team’s Pop-Tarts Bowl appearance, a 25-21 win over Georgia Tech last December, alongside other bowl-game achievements for the program.
