No. 3 Lone Peak Holds Off Upset-Minded No. 11 Pleasant Grove

SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 3 Lone Peak Knights held off an upset attempt by No. 11 Pleasant Grove, 24-14.

#11 Pleasant Grove 14 @ #3 Lone Peak 24

Both team scores seven points in the first and fourth quarters. A 10-point second quarter by the Knights proved to be the deciding factor in the game. Kaden Hodson tossed a pair of touchdown passed for Lone Peak. With the result, the Knight improved to 4-1 and the Vikings dropped to a 4-2 record.

Region 1

Davis 6 @ #19 Syracuse 48

The No. 19 Syracuse Titans crushed the Davis Darts on Friday night, 48-6. Davis scored its points on a pair of field goals in the first half and the rest of the scoring was done by Syracuse, who had a 24-6 lead at halftime and added another 24 points in the second half. Titans quarterback Jake Hopkins tossed three touchdown passes in the game. With the result, Syracuse improved to a 4-2 record and Davis dropped to 3-3.

Layton 17 @ #6 Farmington 21

The No. 6 Farmington Phoenix escaped a near upset by the Layton Lancers on Friday, 21-17. After the Phoenix owned a 14-3 lead at halftime, the Lancers scored 14 points in the third quarter to take the lead late into the contest. With four minutes remaining, Easton Wight connnected with Ben Stucki for 38-yard and Farmington’s go-ahead touchdown. With the result, the Phoenix moved to 6-0 and the Lancers dropped to 3-3.

Clearfield 7 @ Weber 45

The Weber Warriors blasted the Clearfield Falcons on Friday, 45-7. The Warriors used a 31-point first half to cruise to victory. Nakosi Swain and Tyce Abbott each had a rushing touchdown for Weber. With the result, the Warriors improved to 1-5 and the Falcons dropped to 0-6.

Region 2

Taylorsville 10 @ Granger 52

The Granger Lancers cruised to a 52-10 win over the Taylorsville Warriors on Friday night. Granger owned a 20-0 lead at the halftime break and ran away in the second half. Ricky Mamone tossed four touchdown passes for the Lancers. With the result, Granger improved to 3-2 and the Warriors fell to 3-3.

Roy 35 @ Kearns 17

The Roy Royals ran past the Kearns Cougars, 35-17, on Friday night. After falling behind after the first quarter, the Royals scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a four-point lead into the halftime break. Following a scoreless third quarter, the Royals added a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal their victory. Colby Frokjer led Roy with two touchdown passes. With the result, the Royals improved to 4-2 and the Cougars fell to a 1-5 record.

Hunter 0 @ #10 West 44

The No. 10 West Panthers shutout the Hunter Wolverines on Friday night, 44-0. 37 of West’s points came in the first half. Panthers quarterback Isaiah SueSue tossed five touchdown passes and ran for another score. With the result, the Panthers improved to a 4-2 record and the Wolverines dropped to 0-6.

#18 West Jordan 34 @ #15 Riverton 9

The West Jordan Jaguars ran past the Riverton Silverwolves for an upset win, 34-9. After falling into a 7-0 hole after the first half, the Jaguars scored 24 unanswered points before halftime to take a commanding lead. Jaguars quarterback DAmeon Crosby threw a touchdown pass in West Jordan’s win. With the result, the Jaguars moved to a 4-1 record and Riverton moved to 3-3.

Herriman 15 @ #7 Bingham 23

The No. 7 Bingham Miners fought off the Herriman Mustangs for a 23-15 victory at home. Bingham outscored Herriman 13-8 in the second half to claim the win. With the result, the Miners move to 4-2 and the Mustangs fell to 2-4.

Copper Hills 9 @ #17 Mountain Ridge 48

The Mountain Ridge Sentinels crushed the Copper Hills Grizzlies, 48-9. Mountain Ridge owned a 20-9 lead at the halftime lead before blowing the game open with a 28-point third quarter. Semisi Kinikini scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Sentinels. With the result, Mountain Ridge improved to 5-1 and the Grizzlies fell to 2-4.

Region 4

#9 American Fork 14 @ #5 Corner Canyon 35

The No. 5 Corner Canyon Chargers took down fell ranked team American Fork, 35-14. The Chargers outscored the Cavemen in the first half 21-0. A pair of second half touchdowns weren’t enough for the Cavemen to ovecome the early deficit and more offense by the Chargers in the final quarter. Isaac Wilson led Corner Canyon with three passing touchdowns. With the result, the Chargers moved to 4-2 on the season and the Cavemen fell to a 4-2 record.

Westlake 6 @ #1 Skyridge 62

The No. 1 Skyridge Falcons flew past the Westlake Thunder, 62-6. The Falcons scored 56 unanswered points before Westlake got on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter. Trent Call led Skyridge with three passing touchdowns. With the result, the Falcons improved to 6-0 and the Thunder fell to a 2-4 record.

Non-Region

#21 Crimson Cliffs 41 @ Cyprus 8

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs stomped the Cyprus Pirates on Friday, 41-8. The Mustangs scored 41 straight points in the first three quarters before the Pirates got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Mustangs quarterback Steele Barben tossed three touchdown passes. With the result, Crimson Cliffs moved to 5-1 and Cyprus dropped to 3-3.
