American Fork Downs East In Offensive Shootout

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The American Fork Cavemen made more offensive plays than East in their 57-45 shootout win.

American Fork quarterback Hayden Betts threw six touchdown passes, two to both Garrison Grimes and Tanner Holden, while connecting with Devin Downing, Easton Greening and Taylor Crump once. Maddux Madsen threw and ran in a touchdown for the Cavemen.

For East, Sione Angilau ran in four touchdowns, while Fakaaofilani Amone found the end zone three times on the ground.

Here is the rest of the results from the 6A classification during the fourth week of the high school football season:

Region 1

Clearfield 0 at Davis 48

After a scoreless first half, Davis scored 34 points in the second quarter. Darts quarterback Chance Trujillo threw three and ran in one touchdown, while Peter Stevenson caught two of those touchdowns. Kyle Roberts intercepted two passes and returned both of them for touchdowns. Mason Rigby returned a punt for a touchdown as well in the shutout win for Davis.

Fremont 28 at Northridge 24

Fremont won the game with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Mitch Stratford to Brandon Baray with 34 seconds left in the game. Stratford threw three touchdown passes connecting with Baray twice and Jaxon Whitney once. Jayce Storey scored the fourth touchdown for the Silverwolves. For Northridge, Colby Browning passed for two touchdowns, both to Zack Benzley and Otto Tia ran in the third touchdown in the tough loss at home.

Roy 28 at Layton 24

The Lancers jumped out to a 17-0 lead before Roy added two touchdowns before halftime. The Royals scored two touchdowns and held Layton to one touchdown in the second half for the come-from-behind win on the road. Roy quarterback Jaxson Dart threw all four touchdowns for the Royals, three to Cade Harris and the other to Parker Kingston. Layton QB Tyler Reid had two touchdown passes, while Landon Brant caught one and ran in another in the loss at home.

Region 2

Kearns 54 at Taylorsville 7

Both Isaiah Afatasi and Naki Leha ran in two touchdowns with Xavier Afatasi finding the end zone on the ground once for Kearns. Isaiah Afatasi also caught a touchdown in the Cougars big region win over Taylorsville.

West 32 at Cyprus 21

West scored two unanswered touchdowns in the opening quarter before Cyprus found the end zone in the second quarter. Each team scored once in the third quarter and ended with the Panthers scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and the Pirates finding the end zone once. Abraham Williams led West with three touchdowns on the ground, with Mohammed Traore and Falepule Alo each running in a touchdown each. For Cyprus, Jhdhan Lester found the end zone on the ground twice, while Jordan Orozco caught a touchdown.

West Jordan 24 at Hunter 34

Hunter trailed by three points entering the fourth quarter when DaiSean Cash threw two touchdown passes, both to Nathan Suaste. Cash accounted for all five touchdowns, three passes and two runs. Suaste caught all three touchdown passes for the Wolverines. Benjamin Anderson and Boston Farmer threw touchdown passes in the loss for West Jordan.

Non-Region

Copper Hills 49 at Providence Hall 6

Cody Lazenby threw three touchdown passes, while Marley Manuha ran in three touchdowns on the ground for Copper Hills. Jade Lalor, Solos Pei, Tommy Peake and Luke Barbee each had a part in those touchdowns for the Grizzlies.

Farmington 22 at Lone Peak 28

Trailing 28-7 entering the fourth quarter, Farmington scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, but came up just short of a big comeback over one of the best teams in the state. Wyatt Evertsen threw all three touchdown passes in the loss for the Phoenix, two to Jeremy Wilcox and one to Hayden Wilcox. J.D. Neeleman had two touchdown passes, both to Shawn Wood, while Cade Walker had a pick-six and Chase Comer ran in a touchdown for the Knights.

Herriman 41 at Westlake 0

The Mustangs scored 35 of their 41 points in the first half with two interceptions by Carter Pearce, taking both of them into the end zone for touchdowns. Cole Williams rushed for two scores and Jaxon James connected with Jeffrey Butler on a 26-yard touchdown as Herriman gets the shutout victory.

Jordan 7 at Corner Canyon 42

Cole Hagen threw three touchdown passes, while Austin Bell caught a touchdown and ran in one into the end zone. Cade McDougal and Hagen each ran in a touchdown for the Chargers. Cody Hagen and Noah Kjar each caught a pass in the end zone in the big win at home for Corner Canyon.

Riverton 45 at Granger 14

Jaxon Howard threw two and ran in one touchdown for Riverton. Braden Woodruff caught a touchdown, while Cannon Coggins ran in a touchdown and threw another in the win as the Silverwolves pick up a win on the road over Granger.
