No. 1 Corner Canyon Handles No. 4 Bingham After Strong First Half

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 1 ranked Corner Canyon Chargers dominated the fourth ranked Bingham Miners 35-7 to remain undefeated.

In a top five matchup, Corner Canyon made it look easy as they took a 28-0 lead at halftime. Dylan Carlson started things off with a 72-yard TD less than one minute into the game. Devin Brown threw three touchdown passes, while running in another score. He connected with Jett Meine twice and Cody Hagen once. Cody Lazenby scored Bingham’s only touchdown.

Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the third week of the high school football season.

Non-Region

Maple Mountain (5A) 14 @ Farmington 42 (Thurs.)

The Phoenix scored 25 unanswered points before Maple Mountain found the end zone. Farmington cruised from that point to pick up their first win of the season. Kenyon Brown had a pick-six, while Charlie Holbrook recorded a scoop and score. Boston Reinhold ran in two touchdowns for Farmington.

No. 6 Orem (5A) 42 @ No. 22 Pleasant Grove 16

It was all Orem and it started in the first half as they outscored the Vikings 35-7. Shaun Niu recovered a fumble for a touchdown, while Mack Hixson ran in a touchdown, while getting a receiving TD and a scoop and score. Chase Tuatagaloa threw two touchdown passes in the win.

Bonneville (5A) 28 @ No. 11 Weber 61

Weber was in need of a win after two tough losses to open the season and they got that. Carter Roberts scored the first touchdown on a blocked kick. The Warriors were up 21-14 at the end of the first quarter. They opened up the game with two straight quarters outscoring Bonneville 20-7 in both the second and third. Jake Lindsey threw two touchdowns, while Cannon DeVries caught a TD and ran in two touchdowns. Logan Payne added two rushing TD’s. For Bonneville, Koy Dixon threw three touchdowns in the loss.

No. 20 Roy 48 @ Clearfield 34

Parker Kingston did just about everything in this game. He threw a TD pass to Jesse Dockery, while also rushing for two touchdowns and had a kick return for a TD. Shaydn Stoker and Peyton Hoover each threw a touchdown for Clearfield in the loss. The game was a part of the Rocky Mountain Rumble and was played at Utah State University.

Davis 21 @ Granger 14

Easton Baggett scored all three touchdowns for the Darts but two of them came in the third quarter when they were trailing 14-7. Garrett Cousins threw a TD to Aaron Meints, while Malachi Tuuao had a passing touchdown to Anthony Misi for the Lancers in the loss.

Juan Diego (3A) 58 @ Taylorsville 0

It was all Juan Diego from the first quarter. Tyler Easter ran in four touchdowns, Jeremy Ortega added two rushing TD’s in the win for the Soaring Eagle as the pitched the shutout on the road.

Highland (5A) 13 @ No. 9 Fremont 41

Fremont opened the game with 21 points in the first quarter with the first two TD’s coming from Cannon Kofford touchdown passes to Hayden Hall. Drake Parker had a pick-six to cap off a great opening quarter. Highland scored in the second before Kofford threw two more TD’s before halftime. Kofford threw four touchdowns, two to Hall, one to David Calvert and another to Kyler Kotter.

West Jordan 19 @ Hunter 7

Only one touchdown was scored before the fourth quarter. Boston Farmer, Octavian Heflin and Raymond Filo each ran in a touchdown to help the Jaguars pick up a win on the road.

Cyprus 14 @ Riverton 41

Riverton scored 35 unanswered before Cyprus scored their first touchdown. Julius Tikoisuva ran in both touchdowns for the Pirates. Jake Meyers had two touchdown passes, both to Logan Dunfield. Sau Tafisi had two rushing touchdowns. Trevan McCullogh recorded a scoop and score, while Easton Hicks had a kick return for a touchdown.

Viewmont (5A) 24 @ Copper Hills 21

The Vikings scored first before Copper Hills tied the game. Viewmont then hit a field goal and ran in a touchdown before the Grizzlies countered. Luke Jacobs scored a touchdown at the end of the third quarter to give Viewmont a 24-14 lead. Copper Hills only scored once in the fourth quarter. Jacobs finished with three total touchdowns, one passing and two rushing. Brady Wardle had one passing TD to Damon Sirois.

No. 2 Skyridge 23 @ No. 24 Herriman 0

The Falcons had a great showing on both sides of the ball. McCae Hillstead had one rushing and one passing touchdown in the win. Jeter Fenton caught a touchdown and ran in another one for Skyridge.

No. 17 Syracuse 23 @ Westlake 6

After holding a 10-6 halftime lead, Syracuse never looked back as they closed out the Thunder with 13 points in the third quarter. Jake Mtcalfe threw a touchdown to Noah Yeates, while Jake Hopkins had two TD passes, finding Braxton Stark and Chandler Christensen.

Jordan (5A) 0 @ Layton 49

Layton’s first score was a safety and it was all Lancers after that. Garrett Gifford threw four touchdown passes, finding Nicolas Sanders twice, along with one to both Tyler Wensel and Jack Tolman.
