No. 8 Skyridge Handles No. 4 Bingham For Second Straight Win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The eighth ranked Skyridge Falcons took down No. 4 Bingham, 35-7 to begin the season with a 2-0 record.

Skyridge scored 28 unanswered points in the first two quarters as McCae Hillstead threw two touchdown passes and ran in another. Bingham’s only touchdown of the night came from Isaiah Glasker catching a 27-yard TD from Troy Mehn.

The Falcons capped the win with a 5-yard touchdown connection from Hillstead to Kiai Keone in the third quarter.

No. 12 Timpview 21 at No. 3 American Fork 31

On Thursday night, American Fork won their second straight game while Timpview dropped their second consecutive game to start the season. The Cavemen jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half. Timpview answered with their first touchdown of the season in the third quarter. American Fork put the Thunderbirds away with 10 unanswered points in the third quarter.

Maddux Madsen threw two touchdown passes and ran in another score. Spike Adams added one rushing touchdown. Noah Moeaki and Fisher Ingersoll each caught a touchdown pass for American Fork. For Timpview, Pokai Haunga caught one touchdown and ran in another TD. Liu Aumavae threw two touchdowns. Daniel Kahio caught the other TD pass from Aumavae.

Bountiful 3 at Weber 28

Weber dropped 14 points in the opening quarter with two touchdown passes by Jake Lindsay to Cannon DeVries and Jett Hill. Bountiful scored their only points in the second quarter with a 20-yard field goal. Weber answered with another connection between Lindsay and DeVries and a rushing touchdown in the third quarter. All three touchdowns were 70-yards or longer for Weber.

No. 9 Brighton 38 at Layton 7

Brighton started poured in 17 unanswered points in the second quarter before Layton scored their only touchdown. The Bengals added 21 consecutive points after the Lancers touchdown. Cole Lavin ran in a touchdown and threw a TD pass. Owen Powers ran in a score while also catching a touchdown pass.

Clearfield 14 at Granger 40

The Lancers scored 27 points in the second quarter and had a 34-0 lead at halftime before Clearfield answered with two touchdowns. Kadius Fuimaono ran in two touchdowns as well as two rushing scores by Dionnzy Fue. Desmond Fue added a rushing TD and Landon Bates had a pick-six.

Dixie 21 at No. 16 Roy 24

This game went to the wire. Roy scored first with a 3-yard TD run by Cooper Valencia. Joshua Barney threw a touchdown to Bronson Barben and Avery Anderson ran in a one-yard TD to give Dixie a 14-7 lead. Parker Kingston threw a 56-yard touchdown to Cade Harris to tie the game. The Flyers took the lead back with a Bronson Barben TD pass to Shea Anderson. The Royals completed the comeback with a 20-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter and Kingston ran in the game-winning touchdown with just over one minute remaining.

Jordan 3 at No. 2 Lone Peak 52

Lone Peak jumped out to a 24-0 lead with two touchdown runs by Jaxson Willits and one by Weston Covey. Luke Romney threw two touchdown passes to Luke Johnson and Jake Lindsley. Willits added another rushing score midway through the third quarter. Kaden Franck’s touchdown sealed the win for the Knights.

No. 19 Maple Mountain 14 at No. 7 Pleasant Grove 19

Porter Connors gave the Vikings a spark by running in the first two touchdowns of the game. Sam Leavitt threw a touchdown pass to Darrius Clemons to stretch the lead to 19-0 in the second quarter. Maple Mountain answered with a touchdown catch by BYU commit Kyson Hall in the final seconds of the first half. The last touchdown came early in the fourth quarter when Tyler Nelson of Maple Mountain threw his second TD pass to Hall but the comeback came up short.

No. 17 Mountain Ridge 14 at No. 13 Kearns 41

The No. 13 Kearns Cougars rode a 21-point first quarter to a 41-14 win over the No. 17 Mountain Ridge Sentinels on Friday, August 21. Kearns held Mountain Ridge to two scores in the blowout.

Northridge 31 at Taylorsville 37

Taylorsville started the game with 10 unanswered points after getting a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Braxton Bates. Northridge answered with 14 straight points with a one-yard TD by A.J. Tillman and a 60-yard touchdown connection between Famous Williams and Brooks Ashton. The Warriors got an 82-yard touchdown throw from Humani Wolfgramm to Brison Peisley. Northridge picked up a score from Bryce Hughes to take a 21-17 lead. Taylorsville took the lead after Wolfgramm found Dalton Jamison for a 20-yard TD.

Famous Williams threw a 58-yard touchdown to Roman Kuykendall in the fourth quarter to give Northridge the lead back, 28-24. Northridge put the lead to seven when Logan Smith nailed a 45-yard field goal. The Warriors found the end zone as Wolfgramm found Jamison for a 6-yard TD with 14 seconds left to tie the game and send it to overtime.

In overtime, Bates ran in a 20-yard touchdown to give Taylorsville a 37-31 win.

No. 20 Olympus 19 at Hunter 10

After losing in the season opener, Olympus bounced back with a road win over Hunter. The Titans started the game with a safety early in the first quarter. They ended the opening period with a one-yard touchdown by Johnny Frank. Hunter responded with a one-yard TD run by Justice Brusatto. Both teams exchanged field goals in the second and third quarters to have Olympus holding onto a 13-10 lead. Frank put the game away with a two-yard touchdown with under five minutes left in the game.

Provo 13 at No. 14 Westlake 30

Provo scored first on a 04-yard kick return for a touchdown by Leva Rosales. The Thunder responded with 17 straight points in the first and second quarters. Kanyon Lee ran in a TD while Brayden Ross connected with Thomas Davis for a 42-yard touchdown. Ross ran in a touchdown in the third quarter before Loga Lesa returned an interception for a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Kip Watterson ran in a 29-yard touchdown in the final seconds of the game for Westlake.

Riverton 30 at West Jordan 0

It was all Riverton after scoring 20 points in just the second quarter. Jaxon Howard threw two touchdown passes to Jaxon Bennett and Andrew Mangum. Bennett ran in another touchdown while Brayden Hunkin added a rushing TD.

Woods Cross 15 at West 28

Woods Cross scored first as Luke Hyde found Luke Dastic for a 10-yard TD late in the opening period. West responded with a touchdown in the second quarter as Clarence Bird Butler found Carson Lopati. Bird Butler ran in a seven-yard score in the third quarter to give the Panthers a 14-6 lead. After a Wildcat field goal, West scored two unanswered touchdowns on a Bronsyn Saena TD run and a pick-six by Talitui Pututau. Woods Cross added a touchdown at the end of the game.
