Park City Comes Back To Beat Stansbury On Touchdown Pass As Time Expires

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Stansbury Stallions scored a go-ahead touchdown with less than 30 remaining in the game before the Park City Miners marched down the field for the game-winning score as time expired.

Park City 33 Stansbury 28

Park City quarterback Kirby Baynes connected with Trond Grizzell on a 29-yard touchdown pass as the clock hit zero for the Miners’ comeback victory.

The Stallions owned a 14-6 advantage at halftime.

Park City scored 14 points in the third quarter to go up heading into the final 12 minutes of action.

Stansbury quarterback Kru Huxford threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran in another on the ground but it wasn’t enough for the Stallions.

Baynes accounted for three of the Miners’ touchdowns in the win.

Region 9

Cedar City 19 Dixie 24

After trailing the Cedar City Red 13-7 at halftime, the Dixie Flyers stormed back in the second half for a 24-19 win on Friday. The Flyers emerged from the halftime break scoring 17 points in the third quarter to take control of the game. Dixie’s Shea Anderson accounted for two touchdowns in the game.

Hurricane 7 Crimson Cliffs 10

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs trailed the Hurricane Tigers through the first three quarters of play before scoring 10 points in the final quarter to win 10-7 on Friday. Crimson Cliffs scored the game-winning field goal with 11 seconds left in regulation on a kick by Ryan Woolley.

Pine View 67 Canyon View 27

The Pine View Panthers blasted the Canyon View Falcons by 40 points on Friday night. After the Falcons jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, the Panthers responded with 53 unanswered points to run away with the contest before Canyon View scored again. Pine View’s Brayden Bunnell accounted for four passing touchdowns while Ryan Jordan was responsible for three scores on the ground.

Snow Canyon 28 Desert Hills 21

The Snow Canyon Warriors beat the Desert Hills Thunder on a touchdown in the final minutes of action for a seven-point victory on Friday evening. The Warriors and Thunder entered the fourth quarter knotted up at 21 apiece. Snow Canyon’s Landon Frei hit Bretton Stone with a 31-yard touchdown pass with 1:41 left on the clock to give the Warriors’ the go-ahead and ultimately game-winning score.

Region 10

Ben Lomond 10 Mountain View 49

The Mountain View Bruins overpowered the Ben Lomond Scots for a 49-10 win on Friday. Mountain View jumped out to a 35-o advantage after the first 12 minutes of game time and coasted to the 39-point victory.

Cedar Valley 42 Uintah 13

The Cedar Valley Aviators flew past the Uintah Utes 42-13 on Friday behind a big performance by Dellen Westbroek. Westbroek quarterbacked the Aviators to the blowout victory with five passing touchdowns. Cedar Valley’s Vili Mausia added another touchdown on the ground.

Tooele 7 Ogden 21

The Ogden Tigers scored a pair of touchdowns during the third quarter to take control of the game and ultimately pull out a 21-7 win over the Tooele Buffaloes on Friday night. Ogden’s Logan Shobe ran in a first quarter touchdown to start the Tigers offense in the win.

Region 11

Bear River 18 Logan 21

The Logan Grizzlies outlasted the Bear River Bears in the battle of the bruins on Friday evening. The Grizzlies held a 21-10 lead as the two squads went to the final quarter. Bear River scored 8 points but its comeback attempt fell short. Logan quarterback Kody Kirk tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the game.

Green Canyon 10 Mountain Crest 6

The Green Canyon Wolves took a 10-6 lead over the Mountain Crest Mustangs into the halftime break and it proved to be enough as both teams were scoreless during the final 24 minutes of game time. Green Canyon’s Jake Lundin hit Jacob Regen for a 23-yard score in the first quarter, which ended up as the contest’s only touchdown.
