SALT LAKE CITY – The Mountain View Bruins snuck out a one-point victory over the Union Cougars in week three of 4A High School Football on Friday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Union scored 14 unanswered in the second to go into halftime with a two-score lead. Mountain View brought it back with a third-quarter touchdown to make it a seven-point game heading into the fourth.

The Cougars regained the lead early in the final quarter, but back-to-back late scores from the Bruins put them ahead by one. The defense held strong down the stretch to secure the 21-20 victory.

Week 3 Recap For 4A Utah High School Football

Non-Region

West Field Longhorns (5A) 15 @ Salem Hills Skyhawks 33

After a tightly contested first half, the Salem Hills Skyhawks shut the water off on the West Field Longhorns to pick up their second win of the season on Friday. The Skyhawks trailed 15-10 at the half. After the break, they scored 23 points and held West Field scoreless. Salem Hills quarterback Ryder Hales had three touchdown passes.

Logan Grizzlies (3A) 14 @ No. 19 Mountain Crest Mustangs 49

The Mountain Crest Mustangs closed each half on a high note in their win over the Logan Grizzlies. The Mustangs scored 21 points in the second quarter and 14 in the fourth. Stansbury Stallions 48 @ Uintah Utes 0

The Stansbury Stallions scored 34 of their 48 points in the first half in a shutout win over the Uintah Utes. The tone was set early as Stansbury opened scoring with a 52-yard heave to Lael Rhodes. They followed that with a 75-yard strike to Boston Rowley.

Richfield Wildcats (3A) 47 @ Deseret Peak Golden Eagles 0

The Richfield Wildcats scored 12 or more points in each of the first three quarters as they cruised to a dominant week three victory over the Deseret Peak Golden Eagles. There was no answer for the Wildcats’ rushing attack. Running backs Colton White and Ngalu Taufatofua finished with three and two touchdowns on the ground, respectively.

Park City Miners 21 @ No. 23 Morgan Trojans (3A) 24

The Morgan Trojans edged out the Park City Miners by just three points in a close week three contest. Park City led at halftime, but 18 points in the second half from Morgan proved too much to deal with. A fourth-quarter rushing touchdown from Owen Gilson gave the Trojans a lead that they wouldn’t lose.

Spanish Fork Dons (5A) 17 @ Sky View Bobcats 20

The Sky View Bobcats were another team in 4A to squeak out a narrow win as they faced the Spanish Fork Dons on Friday. Jace Carlson was the definition of a do-it-all player for Sky View. He caught a 33-yard touchdown in the third quarter and also booted in two field goals, one of which was the fourth-quarter game-winner.

No. 16 Olympus Titans (5A) 9 @ Skyline Eagles 14

The Skyline Eagles shocked the Olympus Titans at home as they handed them their first loss of the season. Skyline opened scoring but Olympus quickly came back with a score of their own. Fast forward to the fourth, and the Eagles trailed 9-7. Skyline QB Xavier Cocci threw his second touchdown with eight minutes left to give the Eagles the lead back.

Cedar Reds (3A) 16 @ Dixie Flyers 13

The Cedar Reds scored 13 of their 16 points in the fourth quarter to secure a come-from-behind victory over the Dixie Flyers in week three. Everett Kelling was the first to strike in the fourth with an 11-yard TD catch. With less than a minute, an 11-yard rushing score by Braden Crain put Cedar in front for the first time in the second half.

No. 14 Springville Red Devils (5A) 21 @ No. 18 Provo Bulldogs 14

The Springville Red Devils remained undefeated on the season with a one-score victory over the Provo Bulldogs on Friday. With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs ended their drive with a short touchdown rush to even the score at 14-14. One play later, Springville quarterback Lisiate Valeti found Zachary Henderson for an 80-yard bomb to take the lead right back.

Hurricane Tigers 43 @ Murray Spartans 34

15 unanswered points in the first quarter gave the Hurricane Tigers just enough separation to hold onto their lead through four quarters and come out on top against the Murray Spartans. They came back with 21 points in the second, but Hurricane outscored them 21-13 in the second half. Five different Tigers players scored a rushing touchdown against the Spartans.

Snow Canyon Warriors 21 @ Sierra Vista (AZ) 14

The Snow Canyon Warriors traveled down to the Grand Canyon State and were able to return home with their undefeated record intact after a 21-14 win over the Buena Colts. Tied 14-14 going into the fourth, Parker Olson and Brett Bethers connected for a second touchdown to put Snow Canyon in front.

Centennial (NV) 18 @ Desert Hills Thunder 15

The Desert Hills Thunder conceded multiple big-play touchdowns in their week three loss to the Centennial Bulldogs. All three of the Bulldogs’ scores came on plays from 40 yards or longer. Anyzja Cummings and Isaac Andresen were the two touchdown scorers for Desert Hills.

Timpanogos Timberwolves 41 @ Summit Academy Bears (2A) 0

The Timpanogos Timberwolves scored 28 points in the first half of their shutout win over the Summit Academy Bears in week three. Donovan Holloway had a rushing and receiving score against the Bears. Three other Timberwolves players found the end zone.
