FedEx Cup Playoffs Enter Second Event As Tony Finau Tinkers With Cut Line

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau will be playing alongside Billy Horschel and Joaqiun Nieman for the first two rounds of the second of three FedEx Cup Playoff events, the BMW Championship this week.
Finau and company will tee it off at 10:41 a.m. off the tenth tee on Thursday before starting their Friday at 11:36 a.m. on the first tee box.

Last week marked the beginning of the FedEx Cup Playoffs in which Finau began ranked 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings.
However, after missing the cut by one stroke a week ago, Finau has since dropped to 29th in the standings which could prove problematic if the Salt Lake City native cannot get his game going this week.
FedEx Cup Playoff Format
The format of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is simple – The field gradually shrinks every week based on where you stand in the FedEx Cup standings.
The top 125 players qualified for The Northern Trust last week. The field shrunk to 70 players for this weeks upcoming BMW Championship and if players are looking to compete in the final Playoff event, the Tour Championship, then they better plan on finishing the BMW Championship being ranked in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup Standings.

Finau is tinkering on the verge of missing out on the Tour Championship if he cannot play better this week than he did last. A disaster considering his top-four finish at the recent PGA Championship a few weeks ago.
Notables that are currently outside of the desired top 30 cut line entering the BMW Championship include –
– Adam Scott at 38
– Gary Woodland at 39
– Jason Day at 50
-Tiger Woods at 57
– Bubba Watson at 58
Caddie Concerns
Caddie concerns continue to put added stress on Finau.
Since departing with his longtime caddie Greg Bodine, Finau has opted to use his swing coach, Boyd Summerhays, and Mark Urbanek, a veteran PGA caddie. However, he has stated that he has not made a final decision on who his future full-time caddie will be and is in no particular rush to make the decision.
Upcoming PGA Schedule
The PGA schedule is loaded towards the back half of the year following a three-month postponement of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The U.S. Open will take place at Winged Foot from September 17-20 with the Ryder Cup immediately following. The Masters will begin on November 12th and run through the 15th. The Open Championship opted to cancel their 2020 plans and will instead look to prepare for 2021.
