Finau Fans Left Heartbroken Following Playoff Loss At Genesis Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau lost in the second hole of a playoff to Max Homa at the Genesis Open, and his fans, and golf lovers around the world, were left heartbroken.

Finau, 31, has the most top-five finishes on the PGA Tour since the 2016/17 PGA Tour season. He has finished in the top five on the leaderboard on four consecutive events.

How Finau has not won more than once on the tour is unexplainable.

His fans, including Utah Governor Spencer Cox, were riding the emotional roller coaster with every Finau shot.

Radio personality Mike Greenberg also shared his opinion on Finau following the loss.

Hate to see it end on a miss rather than a make. The winless streak continues for Tony Finau, one of the best players in the world, who shot 64 today. Fabulous drama, as always at Riviera, as good a golf course as there is.

Finau was gracious in defeat. So much so that, despite his apparent pain and hurt, took the time to speak with the media on the 14th hole seconds after suffering defeat.

Finau will compete and be in the field at next week’s PGA event at the WGC Championship. It will be his final event before the Players Championship that is scheduled to begin on March 11th.
