HURRICANE, Utah – Former BYU star and current Symetra Tour member Kendra Dalton has concluded her third round at the Copper Rock Championship.

Front Nine

She began the day at one-over-par, nine shots behind the leader, and gave herself an immediate look at birdie on the opening par 5 1st but failed to capitalize. She then had another look at birdie on 2 but settled for par.

The third hole has been challenging for Dalton who bogeyed the hole during the opening round. Her approach shot found the greenside rough in almost the exact position as round 1. Today, the same result eventuated and she made bogey to go to two-over-par on the tournament.

A delightful tee shot followed on the par 3 4th hole, two putts later and she was in for par.

Her first birdie of the tournament came on the par 5 5th when she rolled in a 12 footer to get back to even par on the day.

As the front nine came to a conclusion, the wind began to whirl and breezes picked up to 30+ miles. She paid the price and struggled to play into it notching three consecutive bogeys on 8,9, and 10.

Back Nine

Then, on the par 3 11th, she rolled in a long 20-foot birdie putt to settle.

Unfortunately, a bogey immediately followed on the par 5 12th after she hit her second shot to the back of the green. She chunked her chip, then proceeded to chip off the green back into the wind and eventually settled for another bogey.

Par’s on 12,13, and 14 dropped.

But then, down the stretch, Dalton found more difficulties with bogey’s on 16, 17, and 18 to finish at six-over-par and seven-over-par for the tournament.

“I am really disappointed with that finish, but yea, that’s a grind. That is some real wind out there,” Dalton said at the conclusion of her round.

Next Week

Next for Dalton is a drive out East to Kansas where she will be contending for the Garden City Charity Classic at Buffalo Dunes.
