Tiger Woods ‘Awake, Responsive In Hospital Room Following Car Wreck

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tiger Woods is “awake, responsive and recovering in his hospital room” following a car wreck on Tuesday morning that required emergency surgery.
Woods, 45, “suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery,” Tiger Woods’ statement reads.

“Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia. Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins.
“Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscle to relieve pressure due to swelling.”
His recovery time remains unknown.
The Associated Press reports that authorities say there is no immediate evidence that Woods was impaired.

Days Leading Up
Woods was in California and was seen on television this past Sunday, February 21st, at Riviera Country Club where he spent time commentating on the final round of the Genesis Open. He also delivered the trophy to eventual winner Max Homa.
The day prior to the wreck, Woods was giving Dwayne Wade and David Spade golf lessons at a golf club.
Law enforcement is yet to determine what caused the single-car wreck.
