SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau has found his swing again following a disappointing first round at the Sentry Tour of Champions with a five-under-par second round.

Yesterday, Finau finished his first round of the new year at one-over-par, 74. A round that consisted of a very uncharacteristic double bogey on the par-five 15th after hitting his second shot out of bounds before missing a three-foot putt for bogey.

Today, however, Finau responded with a final score of five-under-par, 68, a round that included an eagle, four birdies, and one bogey.

His round started with a bogey on the par 3-second hole after his tee shot found the greenside bunker and his bunker shot left him with an 11-foot par putt that he would miss.

Nonetheless, Finau was not fazed. A birdie on four followed by an eagle on five and Finau was back doing what he does best. The eagle on hole five came after a remarkable approach shot from 221 yards left him with a 12-foot putt for eagle in which he would drain.

Nothing but birdies followed for Finau who was sticking the greens with his wedges and leaving himself easy putts to stay in contention in Hawaii.

Despite putting a solid second-round together, Finau finds himself down the bottom of the leaderboard and in a tie for 34th. Fortunately, the Sentry Tour of Champions is a tournament that does not have a cut, meaning, Finau will play all four rounds in Hawaii and will not have to worry about missing the cut.

Currently, Webb Simpson leads the pack at eleven-under-par through 12 holes.

Saturday’s tee time is yet to be announced. Finau will likely play earlier than most considering his positioning on the leaderboard.
