SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Native Utahn and PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau told a story about playing alongside Tiger Woods during the 2019 Masters Tournament during an interview with GOLFTV.

Finau’s story about playing with Woods in the final group of the Masters was published to the @GOLFTV Twitter account before the second day of the Presidents Cup on Thursday, December 12.

In the interview, Finau said that playing with Woods “was something special.”

After saying “good luck” on the first hole, the two didn’t speak to one another until Finau walked next to Woods on hole No. 7 and said, “Hey Tiger. How’s the family? How’s the kids?”

According to Finau, Woods, known for his locked-in focus on the course, responded with a straight face and said “they’re good” and nothing more.

Finau didn’t speak with Woods until after the tournament was over when he congratulated the legendary golfer on his fifth green jacket at Augusta.

Woods won the 2019 Masters by a single stroke shooting -13. Finau was two shots behind the champion and finished tied for fifth place with a -11 scorecard.

Tiger pulled in over $2 million in prize money. Finau took home $403,938.

Currently, the two American golfers are participating in the Presidents Cup. After day one, the International team leads the USA 4-1.

Woods and teammate Justin Thomas were the only member of Team USA to win on day one. Finau and Bryson DeChambeau were defeated by Adam Scott and Byeong-Hun An on the first day of the tournament.

Finau is sitting out the action on day two while Woods and Thomas will face off against An and Hideki Matsuyama at 5:41 p.m. (MDT). The President Cup is broadcast on NBC Golf.
