Tony Finau Shares Greenside Bunker Advice For Amateurs Golfers

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s Tony Finau has shared his best piece of advice for amateur golfers looking to improve their ability to get out of greenside bunkers.

“The best bunker advice I have is to get into a nice wide base for your setup. Low handle, and then you are rocking the baby, meaning, you are holding the baby in your arms, take it back you want the head to be facing you, and going through you want the head to be facing you, and you don’t want it to wake up,”

Finau gave the advice to Golf Digest, a national golf publication.

Upcoming Presidents Cup For Tony Finau

Currently, Finau is resting following the 2021/22 PGA Tour season that concluded with the Tour Championship last week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Finau concluded the FedEx Cup season ranked ninth following consecutive victories at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic late in the year.

Finau also managed to secure more money in 2021/22 than he has in any previous season.

It was a breakthrough campaign for Finau who managed two PGA Tour victories in a season for the first time in his career. Previously, Finau won the 2016 Puerto Rico Open and The Northern Trust in 2021.

Up next for Finau is the President’s Cup which is being hosted at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tournament will begin on September 22nd.

Furthermore, Finau has participated in the previous four international golf competitions for the United States. The upcoming Presidents Cup, however, was the first international event in which Finau qualified automatically via the points system. In every previous competition, Finau was selected via the captain’s selection.
