Tony Finau Tied For 44th Entering Final Round Of The Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Tony Finau had a better third round than his second round of The Masters at Augusta National.

Finau finished the third round with a -1, 71 after ending the second round at +3, 75.

The Rose Park native is tied for 44th at -1 for the tournament and is 15 shots back of the leader. He started the third round on Saturday with a par on the first hole, followed by a birdie on No. 2. Finau recorded two straight pars before getting his first bogey on No. 5. After a par on No. 6, bogey on No. 7, birdie on No. 8 and par on the ninth hole, Finau finished the front nine at even par.

The back nine had a strong start with a birdie on No. 10, followed by four straight pars before getting another birdie on No. 15. Finau picked up a bogey on No. 16 before getting a par on each of the last two holes.

Finau made four birdies, 11 pars and three bogeys in the third round.

Due to the weather delay on Thursday, play was backed up where Finau had to finish the second round on Saturday and was able to get his third round in as well after making the cut.

Finau will begin the final round at 6:56 a.m. MST on Sunday. He will be grouped with John Augenstein and Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Mike Weir

Weir is just ahead of Finau, tied for 36th at -2. He went one under for the third round, the same score from the first round and he went even par in the second round.

The Sandy, Utah native started the third round with two straight birdies before getting a par on No. 3. Weir had a bad run on Nos. 4, 5 and 6 with bogeys on those holes. He rebounded with two straight pars and a birdie on No. 9 to end the front nine at even par. Weir made a par on No. 10, bogey on No. 11 and par on No. 12 before getting a birdie on the 13th hole and a par on No. 14. He made back-to-back birdies on No. 15 and 16, wrapping up the round with a par on No. 17 and bogey on No. 18, going one-under on the back nine.

Weir made six birdies, seven pars and five bogeys in the third round. He will tee off the final round at 6:23 a.m. MST and will be grouped with Ian Poulter and Andy Ogletree.
