SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah junior golfer Tristan Mandur has qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships after posting a tie-four finish at the NCAA Regionals.

Mandur ended his final round with a one-under-par closing score. At one point, after posting three birdies in a row, Mandur crawled his way back from one-over-par to two-under-par within the span of three holes on the back nine.

“I’m extremely excited for Tristan. What an incredible week he has had an amazing accomplishment to qualify for the NCAA Championships,” Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. “It was a tough day for the team, but you learn a lot from these moments and today will be a hard one for the guys. I am really proud of how the team pushed forward all week long. Overall, it has been a great season, and I am excited for the future of our golf program. Great things are ahead.”

He will compete at the NCAA Championships as an individual as the Utah golf team did not qualify for the team even after finishing in a tie seventh.

The upcoming NCAA Championships will be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona from May 28 through June 2nd.

Mandur is the third player for the Utes to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual since 1990 and the second in the past three seasons, following the likes of Dustin Pimm and Kyler Dunkle, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2006 and 2019, respectively.
