SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Bingham High School pitcher Brady Lail made his major league debut with the New York Yankees last night at Yankee Stadium.

Lail had two strikeouts and one walk in 2.2 innings pitched in the Yankees win over the Baltimore Orioles. The final score of the game was 11-8.

The Bingham High grad gave up 3 earned runs and was the beneficiary of a double play made by the Yankees defense.

Lail couldn’t contain his smile during a post-game interview saying he was “pretty sure I blacked out,” when asked about the experience of his first game.

“I told myself not to look up because the stands went so high,” said Lail.

Lail was drafted in the 18th round of the 2012 draft and has been with the Yankees organization for seven years. The 25-year-old right-handed pitcher has posted a 2.79 ERA in 42 innings across three different minor-league levels this year.

During the interview, Lail said there were “definitely” times he wasn’t sure he was going to make it to the Majors.

Lail’s family took a red-eye flight from South Jordan, Utah to share the special moment.

“It makes me emotional… I didn’t know they were coming until they showed up the field,” he told reporters.

Lail was a pitcher and a quarterback at Bingham High School, he finished with a 9-3 baseball record as a senior.
