Former Ute Delon Wright Traded To Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – On NBA Trade Deadline Day, former Utah Utes point guard Delon Wright will be switching teams for the first time in his career.
Wright has been traded from the Toronto Raptors along with Jonas Valanciunas, former Jazz man C.J. Miles and a 2024 second round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for center Marc Gasol.
The former Ute is in his fourth NBA season, all with the Raptors. He was selected in the first round (20th overall) in the 2015 NBA Draft by Toronto. Wright is averaging 6.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this season and 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists throughout his career.
Wright played in 172 games, including 7 starts during the regular season for the Raptors and 28 games in the postseason. Toronto is currently in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. Memphis is 14th in the West with a 22-33 record. They are trading away cornerstone pieces Gasol and Mike Conley to begin a rebuild for the franchise. Next season will be the last year of Wright’s rookie contract.
Former Jazz swing man C.J. Miles is in his 13th season in the NBA and his second with the Raptors. He is averaging 5.5 points per game this season after posting 10 points per game in his first season with the Raptors. Miles began his career with the Utah Jazz when he was selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft, he spent seven seasons in Salt Lake City. He went on the play for the Cleveland Cavaliers for two seasons and the Indiana Pacers for three years before joining the Raptors.
Toronto is planning to send Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Milles and a 2024 second-round pick to the the Grizzlies for Gasol, league sources tell ESPN.
