Two Locals Have Career Nights In NBA

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Ute Kyle Kuzma and former Lone Peak star Frank Jackson each scored a career-high for their respective team on Wednesday night in the NBA.
Kuzma scored 41 points in the Lakers 113-100 win over the Detroit Pistons. He scored 12 points in the first quarter, 7 points in the second quarter and exploded for 22 points in the third period. The former Ute didn’t play in the fourth quarter and scored the 41 points in just 29 minutes on 16-of-24 shooting from the field and 5-for-10 from downtown. He scored 12 of the Lakers’ 20 first quarter points and 22 of the teams 34 points in the third quarter.

The Lakers improved to 23-19 on the season and have won their last two games. They will be in Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz on Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Just two days after scoring a career-high 17 points, Jackson topped his performance with 19 points in the Pelicans 140-124 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. All of his field goals made were from beyond-the-arc, going 4-for-4. From the field, he shot 4-of-5 and played 19 minutes for New Orleans who has won their last three games and are now 20-22. They will be at Minnesota on Saturday.
