Two Utah NFL locals are working back from injuries and looking to help the Buffalo Bills contend for a Super Bowl berth in the 2025 season.

Former Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid and former Weber State defensive back Taron Johnson both suffered injuries in 2024, but should be ready to go for week one in September.

Johnson tore the labrum in his left shoulder and needed surgery to repair it this offseason. As a rookie in 2018, he went through the same injury on the other side. Johnson has participated in OTAs but is limited to non-contact.

Kincaid was unfortunate enough to suffer injuries to both of his knees within a two-month span. In week 10, he sprained the PCL in his left knee, which resulted in him missing three weeks. In week 16, he dealt with a Morel‑Lavallée Lesion in his right knee, a fluid accumulation beneath the skin. He didn’t require surgery this offseason and is already back to work in the weight room and in OTAs.

The Bills are hopeful that both players can return to full health as they eye another deep playoff run in 2025.

Kincaid regressed a bit from year one to year two. However, some of that drop can be attributed to the mid-season injuries. In 13 games played, he reeled in 44 receptions for 448 yards and two touchdowns.

Johnson was rock-solid all year and shined as one of Buffalo’s best defensive playmakers. He recorded 65 total tackles (42 solo), one sack, one forced fumble and fumbe recovery, two interceptions, one pick-six, and five pass breakups.

About Dalton Kincaid & Taron Johnson

Dalton Kincaid

Before his time at the University of Utah, the Las Vegas, Nevada native was a standout player at San Diego. Kincaid played for the Toreros from 2018-19. During his San Diego career, the tight end recorded over 1,000 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.

After playing two seasons at San Diego, Kincaid transferred to Utah after the 2019 season.

In his first season in Salt Lake City, the tight end saw limited action. In 2021, Kincaid helped the Utes with 36 catches for 510 yards and eight touchdowns.

In 2022, Kincaid broke out and hauled in 70 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns.

At Utah, the tight end had a total of 107 receptions for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The offensive standout helped Utah capture back-to-back Pac-12 Conference titles in his final two seasons with the program. Utah had a 23-10 overall record with Kincaid on its roster.

The Buffalo Bills selected Kincaid with the No. 25 overall pick during the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

In his two seasons, the former Ute has posted 117 receptions for 1,121 yards and four touchdowns. In five playoff games with the Bills, he caught 14 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Taron Johnson

Before his professional career, Johnson was a standout player at Weber State.

The Sacramento, California native played at Weber State from 2014-17. During his Wildcat career, Johnson was named a First Team All-American selection and Big Sky Conference Defensive MVP. He helped Weber State to back-to-back playoff appearances and a Big Sky title in his final season.

After his time with the Wildcats, Johnson was selected by the Bills during the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

During his seven seasons in the league, Johnson has recorded 515 total tackles, 377 solo tackles, eight sacks, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, six interceptions, two touchdowns, and 44 pass breakups in 100 regular season contests.
