Former Utah WR Britain Covey Signs One Year Deal With Rams

SALT LAKE CITY- Now that the NFL Draft has come and gone, teams are filling their rosters through free agency, and many players are finding new homes in hopes of better opportunities.
One such player is former Utah wide receiver and kick returner Britain Covey, who after spending three seasons as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, is headed west on a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Britain Covey On The Eagles
Covey spent three seasons in Philadelphia with the Eagles, where most of his duties came returning kickoffs and punts. He did also get some time on offense as a receiver, but only caught 11 passes for 76 yards in his three years.
Between 2022 and 2024, Britain returned 68 punts and 11 kickoffs for a total of 1,007 yards. His best year was his second in 2023. He racked up 417 punt return yards on 29 attempts, averaging 14.4 yards per return with a long of 54.
In 2024, Covey was on his way to another productive season until he suffered a shoulder injury against the Saints at the end of September, which sidelined him for an extended period. He returned at the end of November, but only played in two more games and was targeted only once.

Following the season, Britain Covey became a restricted free agent, but the Eagles decided to move on, giving Covey the chance to sign his one-year deal with the Rams.
Britain Covey Joining The Rams
Britain Covey will be joining an LA Rams team that won the NFC West last season and was just a play away from beating the Eagles in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs to move on to the NFC Championship game, but a turnover on downs doomed them.
Britain will join fellow local Puka Nacua, a former BYU Cougar, on the Rams roster.
About Britain Covey
After a special high school career at Timpview High School in Provo, Covey played at the University of Utah from 2015 to 2021.
During his Utah career, Covey had 132 receptions for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns. On the ground, he added 35 carries for 201 yards.
Covey returned the ball on punt and kick returns a total of 84 times for 1,143 yards and two touchdowns.
Following the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Timpview star signed a free-agent deal with the Eagles.

As a rookie during the 2022 season, Covey played in 17 regular season games. During those contests, he’s returned 33 punts for a total of 307 yards and ten kickoffs for a total of 206 yards.
He helped the Eagles reach the Super Bowl in his rookie campaign. Covey returned two punts for a total of 35 yards in three games during the team’s Super Bowl run.
