Chiefs Elevate Former BYU DB Zayne Anderson From Practice Squad To Active Roster

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Kansas City Chiefs elevated former BYU defensive back Zayne Anderson from the team’s practice squad to its active roster.

“We have activated Practice Squad player DB Zayne Anderson via Standard Elevation,” the Chiefs tweeted.
Anderson was signed by Kansas City as an undrafted free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft in April.

About Zayne Anderson
The Chiefs rookie was originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2015 out of Stansbury Park, Utah. Anderson played in 50 games during his BYU career, recording 162 tackles, three interceptions, and six pass breakups.
In 2017, Anderson switched from safety to linebacker and remained there till week two of the 2019 season. During an upset win over No. 6 Wisconsin in 2018, Anderson had 11 tackles. Two weeks later, he suffered a season-ending injury.
In 2019, Anderson battled a shoulder injury limiting him to only two games played.

Heading into his senior year in 2020, Anderson dabbled at cornerback during spring practices, before returning his natural position at safety.
Anderson played in 11 games in 2020, recording 41 tackles.
At BYU’s Pro Day in March, Anderson ran a 4.46 40-yard dash and put together an impressive 6.78 3-Cone Drill time.
During Kansas City’s three preseason games, Anderson recorded 11 total tackles, six solo tackles, and a quarterback hit.
The Chiefs open their 2021 regular season schedule against the Cleveland Browns on September 12 at 2:25 p.m. (MDT) on CBS.
