Cowboys DE Bradlee Anae Lands On COVID-19 Reserve List

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Dallas Cowboys defensive end Bradlee Anae landed on the COVID-19 reserve list prior to Week 3 of the NFL season.

Anae was placed on the list on Friday, September 24, due to the league’s COVID-19 protocols.
Players placed on a team’s reserve/COVID-19 list have either tested positive for the coronavirus disease or have been quarantined following close contact with an infected person.
The 1-1 Cowboys are set to play in their home opener on Monday, September 27.
“Anae played 33 total snaps against the Chargers and Bucs, posting one tackle and one pressure,” DallasCowboys.com writer Rob Phillips wrote. “If he isn’t cleared by Monday’s game, the Cowboys will be down three defensive ends (Lawrence, Armstrong, Anae) against their division rivals.”

“If it ain’t one thing, it’s another,” Fellow Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory said Friday, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “The landscape has been like that since last year. Thankfully, guys are vaccinated, try to avoid stuff like that and get back quicker. Next man up.”
Through the first two games of the season, Anae has recorded one total tackle and one solo tackle.

Anae was selected by the Cowboys during the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Bradlee Anae’s Collegiate Career
Prior to his time in the NFL, the Laie, Hawaii native had a successful career at the University of Utah. During his freshman season in 2016, Anae played in six games and recorded two sacks.
In 2017, Anae played in 13 games, including 10 starts. He racked up seven sacks, 10 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and a pair of fumble recoveries.
A year later, Anae led the Pac-12 Conference with eight sacks. He also added 15.5 tackles for loss in 14 starts. His 2018 season resulted in him being named first-team All-Pac-12.

As a senior in 2019, Anae had for 13 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. That production led to him being named an All-American and first-team All-Pac-12.
Anae broke Utah’s school record for career sacks with 30. He also won the Morris Trophy during his time with the Utes.
