Former BYU QB Taysom Hill Speaks On Future NFL Goals

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Former BYU quarterback and current New Orleans Saints multiple-position-threat Taysom Hill has some big plans for his pro career.

Speaking at a high school banquet in Louisiana, Hill stated his plans for the future during a question and answer session on stage.

“My goal is to be the eventual successor to Drew Brees and improve as a passer but right now all I want to do is help the Saints win,” said Hill.

Last season, the Saints came up just short of the Super Bowl as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, largely due to a controversial no-call on a blatant pass interference late in the game.

Replacing Brees, the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards will be tall order for Hill. To take his place, Hill will likely have to make strides to pass presumed backup Teddy Bridgewater.

Regardless, Hill has already made a name for himself as a valuable player who can play at multiple positions. Last season, he lined up at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, punt returner, kick returner and special teams blocker.

Hill continued to say that adding to his already impressive skill set is a priority for him in the offseason.

“I’m working more now at wide receiver in the slot, improving as a route runner, at halfback or special teams,” said Hill.

The Saints’ season will begin with a preseason matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on August 9.
