Former Highland Ram Haloti Ngata Retires From NFL

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Highland High School star and longtime NFL defensive lineman Haloti Ngata has decided to retire.

Ngata announced his decision on Instagram holding a banner that read “I’m retiring from the NFL on top.” He was on top of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Ngata spent 13 seasons in the NFL and was a five time pro-bowler and a Super Bowl Champion with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. He was drafted in the first round (12th overall) by the Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft.

The former Oregon Duck was the only defensive tackle to record over 500 tackles, 30 sacks and 4 interceptions. He is regarded as one of the best defenders in Ravens history. Ngata was in Baltimore from 2006-14, before joining the Detroit Lions from 2015-17 and was with the Philadelphia Eagles this past season.

Ngata recorded 17 tackles, including 4 for loss, 1 sack and 3 hits on the quarterback last season, while playing in 13 games.
