EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love had to head to the locker room at one point in week 11, but he returned to lead the Green Bay Packers to a big win over the New York Giants, 27-20.

Love completed 13 of his 24 pass attempts for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He also scrambled twice for seven yards.

Jordan Love, Packers Overcome Adversity To Beat New York

The chips started stacking against Green Bay early.

The Giants scored on their first drive of the game, and a defensive stand had the Packers trailing 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the first series of the second quarter, they would bounce back with a touchdown of their own. But a sour taste was left in the mouth of the cheeseheads as Love went to the medical tent and then the locker room.

It was later revealed that he was dealing with a left shoulder injury. He would end up returning later in the quarter.

Green Bay added one more score to leave the game tied at 13-13.

That second-quarter momentum carried over to the third.

To cap off a six-play, 66-yard drive, Love found Josh Whyle from in close to put Green Bay back out in front.

That play gave Love his 12th touchdown throw of the season, and it was Whyle’s first as a Packer.

Fast forward to the start of the fourth quarter, New York QB Jameis Winston showed he still has the leg talent and punched in six. The extra point put the Giants back up by one, 20-19.

The Packers quickly responded. Love found Christian Watson in the end zone on what was one of the more impressive throws from the former Aggie this season.

They went for two and converted to gain a safer seven-point advantage.

That lead would hols strong until the final whistle, allowing Green Bay to improve to 6-3-1 on the season.

About Jordan Love

Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.

In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.

Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first two seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.

In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.

In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Love was injured early in 2024, but came back and led the Packers to another Wild Card berth with 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Green Bay was knocked out in the first game of the postseason by the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles.
