Saints QB Taysom Hill Tosses First Touchdown Passes Of NFL Career In Win Over Falcons

Dec 6, 2020, 2:36 PM | Updated: 3:46 pm

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU and current New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill threw the first touchdown passes of his NFL career in a win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The Saints beat the Falcons 21-16 on Sunday, December 6.

“At the end of the day we’re trying to win football games,” Hill told FOX’s Shannon Spake after the game. “We’ve won I think that’s 10 in a row now. Obviously, we’ve won the last three since Drew’s been out and that’s what we’re gonna focus on. The nice thing is we continue to win games but we know that we can get better, and we’ll continue to do that.”

During the first half of New Orleans’ victory, Hill tossed a pair of touchdown passes, the first of his professional career.

With 7:01 remaining in the first quarter, the former BYU signal-caller connected with Tre’Quan Smith for a 15-yard score. The strike was Hill’s first completion for an NFL touchdown.

1:45 before halftime, Hill hit Saints tight end Jared Cook with an 11-yard pass for another touchdown.

In his third start, Hill led the Saints to a third straight win with the five-point victory over Atlanta.

He finished the contest 27/37 passing for 232 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Hill had a passer rating of 107.0.

Hill also ran the ball 14 times for 83 yards.

With the victory, Hill and the Saints improved to 10-3 on the season and clinched a playoff berth.

New Orleans’ next game is against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, December 13 at 2:25 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on FOX.

Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees, who’s been out with rib and lung injuries, will be eligible to be activated from the team’s Injury Reserve for the game against the Eagles.

If Brees isn’t ready to go, Hill will likely receive his fourth consecutive start.
