SALT LAKE CITYBaltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that former Utah Utes quarterback Tyler Huntley would take the majority of first-team reps in practice with Lamar Jackson “less likely” to play in Week 14.

Harbaugh addressed his team’s quarterback situation on Monday, December 5.

A day earlier, Jackson, a former NFL MVP, suffered a knee injury during the first half of Baltimore’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Huntley replaced Jackson in the second quarter and led the Ravens to a 10-9 win over the Broncos with a game-winning touchdown run in the final minute of action.

“Our players have a lot of confidence in him, you know, and I’m sure the team like the Steelers is going to be looking to if he’s out there,” Harbaugh said of the former Utah standout. “He’s probably gonna take most of the reps this week. You know, they’ll be prepared for both guys, I would think. But both guys play a similar game, you know, we run the same basic offense with both players. So it’s not really gonna change anything in terms of preparation.”

The Ravens coach continued by stating what has impressed him about Huntley.

“He’s a player that’s got a lot of dynamics to his game,” Harbaugh said. “He can throw, he can run, he operates really well. And not as experienced, obviously, but he is experienced. He’s been out there. Last year, he’s out there for five, six, seven games, right? This year now…We’ll be excited to play and our guys will be fired up.”

Harbaugh said that Jackson had an MRI on the injured knee and is currently “week-to-week” and “less likely” to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Baltimore’s next game.

In addition Harbaugh’s press conference on Monday, the team signed quarterback Brett Hundley to the practice squad.

In the win over the Broncos, Huntley finished the game 27/32 passing for 187 yards and an interception. He added 10 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown with his legs.

With the win, the Ravens improved their record to 8-4 this season.

Last season, Huntley started multiple games in relief of an injured Jackson. Week 14 would be his first start of the season if he gets the nod.

Baltimore’s next game is on the road against Pittsburgh on Sunday, December 11 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will be televised on CBS.
