Washington QB Alex Smith Throws First Touchdown Pass Since 2018 Injury

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith tossed his first touchdown pass since suffering a brutal leg injury during the 2018 NFL season.

Smith and Washington fell 23-20 to the New York Giants on Sunday, November 8.
During the game, Washington quarterback Kyle Allen was carted off with an injury and Smith took over the offense. It was Smith’s second time stepping in for Allen this season.
In the fourth quarter, Smith connected with Terry McLaurin for a 68-yard touchdown to cut New York’s lead to 23-20 with 10:24 left in the game.

It was the former Utah quarterback’s first touchdown this season and his first since suffering a season-ending injury two years ago.

Smith finished the game 24/32 for 325 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He ended with a quarterback rating of 78.2.

With the loss, Smith and Washington fell to 2-6 on the season.
Washington’s next game is against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, November 15 at 11 a.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on FOX.
