LAS VEGAS – Former Utah Utes guard Gabe Madsen shined in Vegas on Sunday as the Golden State Warriors took on the Utah Jazz at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Madsen led the Warriors with 22 points off the bench and a team-high six made threes.

The buckets came early and often for Madsen.

He checked in with five minutes left in the opening quarter and drained his first triple less than a minute later. He ended up with nine points on three made threes in just four minutes.

The second quarter was rinse-and-repeat for the former Ute. He checked in mid-way through the quarter, drained three three-pointers, and made his way back to the bench.

The second half was much quieter, but he still finished with 22 points, one rebound, one assist, and two steals.

Nothing is guaranteed in the summer league, but Madsen could play his way into at least a G League contract with the Warriors.

Golden State has two more games left on its schedule. They will play the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, July 15, and then play the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, July 17.

About Gabe Madsen

Madsen, originally from Rochester, Minnesota, is an alum of the University of Utah.

At Mayo Senior High School, Madsen averaged 26.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in his senior year and was ranked a three-star prospect by 247 Sports. He committed to Cincinnati, where he would play just two games in his freshman season.

Madsen entered the portal and decided to join Utah basketball in 2021. Madsen went on to play in 119 games with the Utes.

Consistently improving each year, Madsen averaged 15.2 points in his fifth-year senior campaign.

After going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, he joined the Golden State Warriors’ summer league roster.
