SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Damir Kreilach has signed a new multi-year deal with Real Salt Lake that will keep him at the club through the 2022 season, with an option on the 2023 season.
Well Deserved
“He’s a professional. He’s a culture setter. He leads by example. And he produces. He steps up in every big moment. You look at the big moments in the last three years for RSL, Damir plays a role in nearly every one of them. That says all you need to know about him,” RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said.
The big Croatian arrived at RSL prior to the 2018 season and has since impacted the club in more ways than anybody could have hoped. He is versatile and is frequently asked to play different roles yet he constantly finds a way to impress and succeed.
There is a good argument that Kreilach is the most valuable Real Salt Lake player.

Immediate Impact
When RSL signed Kreilach, they intended on using him in the heart of the midfield as the club’s number eight. However, he can play at the 10 or the 9 and will even float out wide and get involved in the attack from the wing.
Since 2018, Kreilach has scored 23 goals and notched 14 assists in the 81 appearances that he has made for the claret and cobalt.
“From the moment I came to Real Salt Lake, it felt like I was at home. Everyone welcomed me and my family. At the end of the day, it’s not only about soccer. It’s about life. I’m happy to stay here and continue to be part of the RSL family,” Kreilach said. “I want to thank all of my teammates and coaches as well as staff and fans. I’m looking forward to giving my best on and off the field and be a role model for other young players. And of course, I’m looking forward to winning something for RSL because that is what this club and these fans deserve.”
