Every Playoff Seeding Scenario For Real Salt Lake Ahead Of Final Regular Season Match

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has already clinched a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs but their seed is up in the air as “Decision Day” approaches on Sunday with RSL facing the Vancouver Whitecaps on the road.
Decision Day in Major League Soccer is the final day of the regular season with every game beginning at the same time, which is 2 p.m. MDT.
RSL will make their 10th playoff appearance in the last 12 seasons. As it stands, Real Salt Lake is in fifth place in the Western Conference table. This season, MLS changed their playoff format to the No. 1 seed getting a first round bye in the postseason. The second, third and fourth seeds will host in the first round in a one game, winner-take-all match.
None of the teams in the west will catch LAFC for the top spot in the west as they have 69 points, the second place Minnesota United and Seattle Sounders both have 53 points, with the LA Galaxy in fourth place with 51 points. RSL has 50 points.

Here is every possible playoff scenario for seeding for Real Salt Lake to watch for on Sunday, these are the scenarios that need to happen if RSL wants to host a game in the first round:
– Seattle wins and LA Galaxy wins … RSL finishes 4th and hosts Minnesota
– Seattle wins and LA Galaxy loses or draws … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts Portland, Dallas or San Jose
– Seattle draws and LA Galaxy loses or draws … RSL finishes 4th and hosts LA Galaxy
– Minnesota wins and LA Galaxy wins … RSL finishes 4th and hosts Seattle
– Minnesota wins and LA Galaxy loses or draws … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts Portland, Dallas or San Jose
Seattle will face Minnesota at home. The Galaxy will be on the road against the Houston Dynamo.
If RSL wins, Seattle or Minnesota wins and LA Galaxy loses or draws and:
– Portland wins … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts Portland
– Portland loses or draws and San Jose wins or draws and Dallas wins … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts Dallas
– Portland loses or draws and San Jose wins and Dallas loses or draws … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts San Jose
– Portland draws and Dallas loses or draws … RSL finishes 3rd and hosts Portland
