Johnson’s Second Goal Hands RSL Big Advantage Over SKC

SANDY, Utah – In less than 30 minutes, Real Salt Lake forward Sam Johnson found the back of the net for the second time to give RSL a 2-0 lead over Sporting Kansas City.
The second goal came in the 29th minute as Albert Rusnak and Johnson were on a two-on-one break to against one Kansas City defender.
Rusnak played the ball to Johnson but it went behind the RSL striker when Damir Kreilach tapped the ball back to Johnson, who fired the ball past SKC keeper Tim Melia.

The goal was Johnson’s second of the match and seventh this season.
He scored the first goal in the 15th minute when Kreilach played the ball from the right side of the 18-yard box with his right foot to Kyle Beckerman, who was inside the box, who headed the ball to Johnson.
All that Johnson had to do was get a foot on it and that gave RSL the goal and the lead over their Western Conference rivals.
It’s the second time in his short stint with RSL that Johnson has scored two goals in one match.
