Real Salt Lake Announces 2021 MLS Season Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer has announced their 2021 schedule. Previously, the league had only released the first two fixtures that include a road trip to Minnesota United on April 24 before the home opener on May 1st against Sporting Kansas City.

The Numbers

The season involves 17 home games and 17 away games with the final game of the regular season occurring on Sunday, November 7 against Sporting Kansas City away from home.

There will be no Sunday home games in 2021.

RSL will only play two teams from the Eastern Conference in Nashville and Chicago. The remaining 32 games will be played against Western Conference foe.

RSL will play the following clubs on three occasions in 2021 – Colorado, FC Dallas, Houston, LA Galaxy, LAFC, Portland, San Jose, and Vancouver. They play Austin, Minnesota, Seattle, and Sporting Kansas City twice. Both games against Eastern Conference teams are one-off occasions.

Throughout the season, RSL will be faced with multiple road tests with the first batch of away games occurring between July 7th to July 21st where they will play Vancouver, LAFC, and LA Galaxy in consecutive order before returning to take on Colorado in what will be their first home game in three weeks.

However, the start of the schedule works in favor of RSL who will play three consecutive games at Rio Tinto Stadium starting with their home opener against Sporting Kansas City on May 1st, San Jose on May 7th, and ending with Nashville on May 15th.

Real Salt Lake 2021 MLS Schedule

RSL travels to Tuscon, Arizona to begin its final preparations for the 2021 season on March 31st. The club will spend 10 days in Tuscon where it will play three practice matches with the first on April 3 against Colorado Rapids before facing the USL Championship’s 2020 Western Conference champion Phoenix Rising FC on April 7. RSL will conclude its preseason slate against the LA Galaxy on April 10 before returning to Utah.

Times for the away games are yet to be released but will be available for fans closer to the date.

Currently, every RSL match in 2021 will be available to stream via the KSL 5 TV app or on sports.ksl.com. That is subject to change based on national media rights.
