Real Salt Lake Looks To Get Back To Winning Ways Against New York Red Bulls

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake’s three game unbeaten streak came to an end Wednesday evening after the club suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo.
Head coach Mike Petke made drastic changes to the Starting XI prior to loss at Montreal sending out an all homegrown back line which consisted of Brooks Lennon, Justen Glad, Erik Holt and Donny Toia. Changes were also made to the midfield as Justin Portillo got his first start of the season playing alongside acting captain Damir Kreilach. The front four consisted of Joao Plata on the left, Albert Rusnak playing centrally and Jefferson Savarino on the right with Sam Johnson starting at striker.
More changes should be expected for the upcoming match up with the New York Red Bulls as Kyle Beckerman and Marcelo Silva traveled to New York to meet the team on Thursday.

Looking At New York
New York currently sit in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with a total of 21 points. The Red Bulls got off to a slow start in 2019, picking up just five points in their first seven games before going on an impressive seven game stretch where they picked up 16 points.
Brian White leads the team in goals with three despite only playing in seven games this year. The midfield trio of Daniel Royer, Cristian Casseres and Alex Muyl sit just below White with two goals a piece.
Right back Michael Amir Murillo and midfielder Daniel Royer are tied for the team lead in assists with four. So far this season New York has scored 21 goals and only conceded 16, compared that with RSL which has also scored 21 goals but has conceded 23 goals.
New York is coming off a 2-0 victory against MLS newcomer FC Cincinnati last Saturday in which Alejandro Romero and Omar Fernandez scored late in the game, in the 78th and 91st minute respectively.
34 year old Englishmen Bradley Wright-Phillips hurt his ankle 33 days ago and after head coach Chris Armas told the media that the injury was not serious, it seems unlikely that the veteran star will again be unavailable for the match against RSL.
BWP did not train today for #RBNY. Long, Bezecourt worked into the squad today.

Club Update
As mentioned above, captain Kyle Beckerman and center back Marcelo Silva have both joined the team in New York after not being present for the Montreal game.
Jefferson Savarino made it back to back MLS Goals of the Week awards for RSL after his final-second game winner against Atlanta United last Saturday. Bofo Saucedo won the award in the previous week for his strike from distance in the 28th minute against Toronto.
