Real Salt Lake To Host Seattle Sounders In 2022 Home Opener

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake will open the 2022 MLS regular season on the road against Houston before hosting the Seattle Sounders in the home opener, the league announced today.
Real Salt Lake’s season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 27th, with a road fixture against Houston before returning to the RioT on March 5th for a date with the Seattle Sounders to open the home schedule.

Recently, Real Salt Lake has found success early in the season. In 2021, the club beat Minnesota United 2-1 on the road before notching a 3-1 victory at home against Sporting Kansas City. A brace from Anderson Julio in the opener and a brace from Rubio Rubin in the home opener secured a quick six points for the men in Claret & Cobalt.
But before 2022 approaches, the 2021 season must conclude. Real Salt Lake is travelling to Seattle for a date with the Sounders in a single-elimination game. The winner will play Sporting Kansas City in the conference semifinals.
