RSL Picks Up One Point In Draw Against Minnesota United

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake trailed for 14 minutes in the second half before Marcelo Silva tied the match to help RSL come away with a 1-1 draw against Minnesota United FC.
Minnesota scored their first and only goal in the 57th minute on a corner kick opportunity. Darwin Quintero headed the ball in from point blank range.
It was a decent bounce back performance from RSL after a dominate 4-0 win over the Philadelphia Union.
Second Half Surge
RSL fired back with a goal in the 71st minute as Jefferson Savarino served the ball into the box from the right side and Marcelo Silva hit a one-time shot with his right foot into the back of the net and fired up the 16,992 fans inside Rio Tinto Stadium.

Despite controlling 60 percent of the possession in the first half, RSL had only 3 shots and none of the them were on target.
Minnesota on the other hand had just one shot and it was not on goal in the opening half.
RSL finished the match with 9 shots with 3 on target, while Minnesota attempted 7 shots and 3 on goal.
It was evident that they didn’t play their best game but after the match, head coach Mike Petke placed the blame on himself.
“It starts with me. I felt that I pushed them a little hard this week. I take full responsibility,” Petke said.

Real Salt Lake now has 30 points on the season. They are tied on points with the Houston Dynamo for the seventh spot in the Western Conference but RSL holds the tiebreaker, so they are above the playoff line. The Claret and Cobalt is two points behind FC Dallas for the sixth spot.
They will face Tigres in the Leagues Cup on Wednesday, July 24 at Rio Tinto Stadium. The match will begin at 8:30 p.m.
“This organization is putting a lot of stock in the Leagues Cup on Wednesday. I am not even looking at Dallas on Saturday,” Petke said.
Their next MLS match will be on the road on Saturday, July 27 to face FC Dallas at 6 p.m. The match will be streamed at sports.ksl.com or the KSL TV app.
